Malala Yousafzai & Kylie Jenner.
I feel like the media today loses sight of what’s really important. There are so many celebrities considered to be “role models” but what really makes someone a “role model” or an “idiol” ?
I recently came across this image, which really made me stop and think.
Kylie Jenner is famous for her family TV series “Keeping up with the Kardasians“, the lip sucking craze and her relationship with rap star Tyga. Recently turning 18, she was given a Ferrari, spent thousands on materialistic things and facial cosmetic procedures.
Malala Yousafzai is famous for surviving a gun shot to the face by the Taliban in her attempt to get an education. Also recently turning 18 she was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize, and opened a school for Syrian refugees.
Both are famous for very different reasons, yet sadly the media only covered one of these stories as “breaking news” – I know which one I think is more empowering!
Malala stood up for what she believed in, risking her life.
